In May, 2012, Art on the Half Shell will celebrate its 12th anniversary as a popular and very well attended fine art and fine craft festival in historic Urbanna, Virginia (the ideal waterside community in a perfect festival setting).

This 1-day event has developed a reputation for exhibiting an extremely high level of fine art which appeals to the large crowds attending every year.

We anticipate the May 12th Festival will be as exciting and well attended as the 2011 event. Plan on being there!!!!!!!!!!


About Us

Our history began in October, 1999 with a small group of Middlesex County residents. We gathered together to explore ways in which a community-based and arts-inspired organization would foster art awareness, appreciation, and education for the benefit of all residents of our county here in tidewater Virginia.

For the first eight years of Festival production, Art on the Half Shell was sponsored by The Middlesex Art Guild, Inc. (MAG). With the blessing of MAG in 2010 the Festival became an independent community cultural arts festival organization and is operating as The Art on the Half Shell Festival Foundation. Art on the Half Shell Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

On May 12, 2012, we are happy to celebrate our 12th annual Art on the Half Shell Fine Art & Fine Craft Festival which has become a major Middlesex County Community cultural arts event and which is enjoyed by many residents and visitors from across the nation.

Our Mission

A community cultural arts festival organization dedicated to promoting all aspects of the visual and performing arts for the cultural and economic benefit of our community and its visitors. In this endeavor, the Foundation will support a wide variety of artists in order to promote their work and talents while stimulating community interest and economic development. Art on the Half Shell is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
